The High Commissioner of India to the UK Yashwant Kumar Sinha has said that any kind of discrimination in the current world has no place. He was speaking at the event of the 883 rd birth anniversary of the Indian social reformer Basaveshwara, quotes The Hindu.

He paid tributes to the social reformer at the Albert Embankment and said that the teachings and values of Basaveshwara must be celebrated and there is no place for discrimination in any form in the global era. The High Commissioner of India to the UK also offered tributes to Dalit icon Dr. BR Ambedkar and Lord Buddha on this occasion.

Dr. Neeraj Patil, the Ex-Mayor of Lambeth in London who was the chief person responsible for the installing of the Basaveshwara statue in London was the organizer of the event.

Dr. Patil said that they were offering tributes to Ambedkar and Buddha as the three shared an intangible relationship. All of them fought against discrimination based on caste and religion, explained Dr. Patil.

Karnataka’s Basaveshwara in the 12th century was the pioneer of the concept of the democratic state as a statesman and a social reformer.

It was pledged by the Indian population on the occasion that they would fight discrimination in all its forms.
