How to make the right Overseas Career choice?

Making the choice of the right Overseas Career is a dilemma faced by many aspiring youths. This is especially true for students of Class 12. The 9th edition of the Hindu Edge Career Guidance Sessions addressed this and similar concerns of students. It was presented by the Chinmaya University.

The program was held at Edapazhanji – Alakapuri Auditorium. Class 12 students of 6 schools had participated in the sessions regarding Overseas Careers. The sessions were aimed at equipping the students in making informed choices.

The Thiruvananthapuram City District Police Chief P. Prakash inaugurated the program. He said that the present generation is fortunate to have access to formal Career Counseling. This was not so in his times, he added. Mr. Prakash also shared his career trajectory with the students.

The choice of overseas careers must be made based on individual interests said the City Police Chief. It should not be decided owing to peer or parental pressure, as quoted by the Hindu. Students should have trust in their abilities, remain motivated and work hard said, Prakash. They must also have the openness of mind, be flexible and learn from people. It is natural to commit errors said the Police Chief. But it is important to rectify them and learn from the mistakes, he added.

Prakash said that students must have the passion for their goals. They must take up the challenging assignment in their youth and yearn to contribute to society. These are the ingredients of a successful career, he added.

Chinmaya University Registrar B. Ashok spoke on the ‘The purpose of higher learning’. He asked the students to remain learners all through their life. Online courses now permit them to register in the best global institutions, added Ashok. It is important to develop critical thinking said the Registrar.
