UK Student Visas

The UK Student Visas are of 2 types – The Tier 4 Study Visa and the Short-term Visa. The Tier 4 Study Visa is exclusively for overseas students admitted for courses of more than 6 months. The Short-term Visa is for those who arrive in the UK for an educational course of fewer than 6 months.

The educational institution that is offering the admission must sponsor the Visa for the students to pursue studies in the UK for the Tier 4 Visa. The Visa is approved for the specific course at the educational institution.

Students in India must have an offer from a College or University in the UK to apply for the Tier 4 Visa. It must be authorized by the UK government as a ‘licensed sponsor Tier 4’, as quoted by the Indian Express.

Applicants will then be able to get the document from the College or University that is known as CAS – ‘Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies ’. They can then apply for the UK Student Visas.

Students must then schedule an appointment at the close by VAC of the Embassy of UK. This is for submitting the biometric details and application. The application for US Student Visas must be submitted by the students minimum 3 months prior to the commencement of their course.

It must be noted by the students that the validity of the CAS statement is only for 6 months. Thus, the application must not be submitted more than 6 months after it was offered.

Students arriving to study at the Degree level will be required to speak English at the B2 – upper intermediate level. It is not at the existing B1 – lower intermediate level.
