Azerbaijan has decreased the state duty on visa needed for single entry for people entering the country; the duty on transit use of its territory is going to be lowered, and various other requirements will not be needed for visas.

APA quoted the Azerbaijan Parliament as saying that with regards to visas, the bill on amendments to the Law on State Duty were proposed following the recommendation of President Ilham Aliyev.

As per the amendment mooted for 16.1.6 article of the law, the state duty intended “for formalizing single entry visas” will be reduced to $20 from $50.

The phrase “for formalizing transit visas” is added to the article. This visa has a $20 state duty on it. Simultaneously, articles of 16.1.8 ($20 for formalizing tourist visas and the visas of students studying on the basis of individual contract), 16.1.9 ($20 for formalizing transit visas), 16.1.9.1 ($40 for single transit visa), and 16.1.9.2 ($40 for double transit visas) have been annulled. The requirements have also been added to the new requirements of Article 16.1.9.2.

The “Note” part added to the article says that the revisions are intended at allowing tourist visits to Azerbaijan from foreign countries. This has been done to create a favourable atmosphere in the country’s territory for transit purposes and leading foreign citizens to opt for Azerbaijan as transit.

The bill is to be tabled on 14 June, during the meeting of the parliament’s special extraordinary session.
