Latest Canada PNP Updates

Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) are a key part of Canada’s immigration policy, with more than 200,000 people expected to obtain Canadian permanent residence through a Provincial Nominee Program between 2020 and 2022.

Provincial Nominee Programs are the fastest-growing economic Canadian immigration pathway. Over recent years, the federal government has gradually increased provinces’ annual allocations for their respective PNPs, showing the increasing importance of these programs within the overall Canadian immigration landscape

Latest PNP Canada updates:

  • August 25: PEI announced the results of three Labor & Express Entry draws that took place in July and August inviting candidates living and working in PEI. A total of 293 invitations were issued in those draws. A further 28 invitations were issued.
    August 25: British Columbia invited 72 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination through four streams of the BC PNP. This was a Tech Pilot draw.
  • August 19: Ontario opened the Employer Job Offer: International Student stream in the morning (Toronto time / EST) following short advance warning. The intake was closed the same morning.
  • August 18: British Columbia invited 302 candidates to apply for provincial nomination through five streams of the BC PNP. Certain occupations were excluded.
  • August 14: Saskatchewan issued 533 invitations to candidates in the Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand streams of the SINP. Only certain occupations were considered.
  • August 13: Manitoba invited 199 candidates, including 23 Express Entry candidates, to apply to the MPNP under three MPNP streams.
  • August 11: British Columbia invited 52 candidates to apply for provincial nomination through four streams of the BC PNP. This was a Tech Pilot draw.
  • August 7: British Columbia invited 437 candidates to apply for provincial nomination through five streams of the BC PNP. Certain occupations were excluded.
  • August 7: British Columbia has increased the application fees for skills immigration applicants from $700 to $1,150. As well, applicants seeking an application review will now have to pay $500, increased from $200 before.
  • July 30: Manitoba invited 199 candidates, including 15 Express Entry candidates, to apply to the MPNP under three MPNP streams.
  • July 29: Saskatchewan issued 502 invitations to candidates in the Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand streams of the SINP. Only certain occupations were considered.
  • July 29: Ontario issued 1,288 Notifications of Interest for the OINP Express Entry Human Capital Priorities stream, inviting candidates across six tech occupations. .
    July 28: British Columbia invited 34 candidates to apply for provincial nomination through four streams of the BC PNP. This was a Tech Pilot draw. 12 candidates were also invited through Entrepreneur streams.
    July 21: British Columbia invited 62 candidates to apply for provincial nomination through four streams of the BC PNP. This was a Tech Pilot draw.
  • July 21: Ontario briefly opened and then closed the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream, allowing 1,300 applications to be submitted
  • July 20: Ontario has announced that the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream will open for an intake on July 21.
  • July 16: PEI announced the results of two Labour & Express Entry draws that took place on July 10 & 16 to candidates living and working in PEI. A total of 166 invitations were issued in those draws. A further 29 invitations were issued in the Business Work Permit Entrepreneur category.
  • July 16: Manitoba invited 174 candidates, including 18 Express Entry candidates, to apply to the MPNP under three MPNP streams
  • July 15: Quebec announced the results of a June 18 draw where the province invited 7 candidates to apply through the Quebec Skilled Worker program.

*Please note that Quebec does not operate a Provincial Nominee Program, but instead manages its own provincial immigration program.
