Members of Indian expatriates from Andhra Pradesh discuss greater coordination among themselves in Jeddah recently.

JEDDAH: Indian expatriate Hasan Bayazeed Ather was unanimously selected as the convener of the newly formed United Andhra Pradesh Organization.

The umbrella organization clubs 18 Jeddah-based social organizations from the south Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Five senior expatriates were named as advisers and five youngsters were given the responsibility of coordinating the group’s activities.

The advisory board comprises well-known Indian expatriates such as Arif Quraishi, Badruddin Ansari, Syed Jamalullah Qadri, Shameem Kausar and Mohammad Yousufuddin Amjad. The team of coordinators includes Naveed Ahmed, Mirza Qudrath Nawaz Baig, Sayeed Haroon and Sayed Khaja Viqaruddin.

Bayazeed thanked all the participating organizations for reposing their trust and confidence in him. “With your support we will do our best to raise the profile of our community,” he said.

Community elders, including Syed Ali Mahmood, shared their sentiments and discussed ways to promote greater coordination among the Indian expatriates.

Mahmood underlined the importance of social work for the uplift of society and the dire need for unity.

The new organization aims to highlight the issues of expatriates from Andhra Pradesh. “We will take a lead in making joint representations on behalf of Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Indians to the Andhra government or the foreign missions abroad,” said one of the office-bearers.

Among other activities, the group plans to arrange lectures of visiting guests and intellectuals, felicitate senior members of the community and promote young talent from the community.
