Brits may need to pay £50 to travel into Europe post Brexit

Tourists from the UK may have to shell out £50 for a new visa that will let them enter other European countries after Britain voted to leave the European Union.

Meanwhile, the European Commission is said to be considering introducing a visa programme for the Schengen region, allowing travel without the need for a passport to 26 European countries.

As of now, non-EU citizens wanting to visit the Schengen area need to pay £50 for a visa. A visa of a similar type is likely to be implemented for Britons.

To be named the ETIAS (EU Travel Information and Authorisation System), the visa would be available to the citizens of the UK who apply before they embark on a visit and pay a fee.

The Telegraph quotes a Home Office source as telling it that they want to get the best result possible for Britain, yet they said they could not rule out anything as they were not sure as to what would transpire.
