Third of candidates invited to Canada through Express Entry in 2016 were Indians

The provinces of Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario were the most sought after destinations for immigrants arriving through the selection system of Express Entry in Canada, according to data revealed IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) for 2016, which was published in the third week of April.

It also stated that 33 percent of the invited candidates were Indian nationals, demonstrating growing ties between India and Canada. The other major countries to which invitations were extended included China, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, the United States, Ireland, Nigeria, South Korea and France.

CIC News says that as India is home to an increasing pool of Highly Skilled IT Professionals, the most number of people invited to this North American country in 2016 were software engineers, information systems analysts, interactive media developers and computer programmers, which were the most prominent occupations that wanted candidates to fill the vacancies last year.

The total number of candidates invited to this country via the Express Entry programme numbered 31,063 in 2015 and 31, 676 in 2016, respectively.
