The minimum cut-off score in the latest Express Entry draw held on 22nd January was 471. The cut-off score has been on the higher side for the many past draws.
On the other hand, many Provincial Nominee Programs have significantly lower CRS score requirement, and some do not have a CRS requirement at all. Not only that, a provincial nomination gets you 600 more points added to your CRS score. This basically ensures that you get an ITA in the subsequent Express Entry draw.
So if your CRS score is not very high, it is highly advisable that you consider applying for a provincial nomination.
We could see a high and low graph of CRS throughout the year 2019, the applicant with CRS range form 301 also had a good opportunity through PNP.
IRCC is also planning to continue the same even for the financial year 2020, through PNP and they had started inviting applicants from the first month onwards. Below given are the PNP draw updates till date for your reference:

Here are the details of the invitations issued by Canadian provinces in January 2020:
1. Alberta:
Alberta issued 150 invitations to candidates in the Express Entry Pool in the latest draw. Express Entry candidates with CRS as less as 350 received an invite to apply for a provincial nomination.
2. Prince Edward Island:
The latest PNP draw of Prince Edward Island issued 123 invitations to candidates under the Express Entry, Labour Impact and Business Impact sub-categories.
3. Manitoba:
Manitoba has issued 435 invitations in January 2020 to candidates under the Skilled Workers Overseas, Skilled Workers in Manitoba and International Education sub-categories.
4. New Brunswick:
Moncton in New Brunswick is hosting a job fair for immigrants on 24th January. The job fair aims to connect international talent with the local employers in the province.
5. Saskatchewan:
Saskatchewan has invited 542 candidates in the Express Entry and Occupations In-demand categories in January 2020.
6. Ontario:
Ontario issued 242 invitations under the French-speaking Skilled Worker Stream in January.
Ontario also invited 954 tech candidates from the Express Entry Pool in the Tech Draw conducted on 15th January 2020. The CRS of the invited candidates ranged between 460 and 472.
Candidates nominating the following NOC codes were invited:
- 2173 Software engineers and designers
- 2174 Computer programmer and interactive media developers
- 2147 Computer engineers
- 2175 Web designers and developers
- 2172 Database analysts and data administrators
- 0213 Computer and information systems managers
