CIE Study Abroad brings new programs for Overseas Students

The Center for International Engagement (CIE), an initiative by Trinity University, has added 11 new programs for Overseas Education. In addition, there were six more countries to visit over the past summer. Trinity Faculty conducted these new programs. They comprise semester programs, summer programs and Beyond Classroom learnings.

Study Abroad is a prong of this initiative by Trinity Faculty. Students can now study in Belgium, Poland, Portugal, Bhutan, Vietnam and UAE. It also added programs in existing destinations like Germany and Italy.

The Study Abroad Assistant Director Andre Martinez has expressed his views in an interview with Trinitonian. He saidthey want to provide students with more opportunities in Overseas Education. They are adding locations which may be of interest to students, he added.  Every year during summer they meet up, examine students’ demand and make the list. They also evaluate a program’s health, academic and safety aspects. It is then sent to the Director of CIE for final evaluation.

The Director of CIE Katsuo Nishikawa saidthey aim to expose students to international content throughout their career in Trinity. In addition, they are also making adjustments to their study abroad process. A lot of information is being moved online.

According to Trinitonian, students now prefer online access to information. Hence, CIE is making changes online to streamline their study abroad programs. This way fetching information on Overseas Education would be easier for students.

CIE believes that experiential education is one of the most important benefits of Overseas Education. Students get expanded worldviews, they make new friends and experience personal growth. They will be open to new ideas. This is a quality which is sought after by many employers.

Nishikawa added that globalization in the last two decades has been a matter of concern for International relations. But that should not deter the progress of their initiative. He added that they want to motivate students to study abroad.

Students should have the idea of where they would like to work. It doesn’t have to be limited to the US. They want students to migrate where they will find ample opportunities for Overseas Education.
