What do the new rules say?
The last phase of this operation ends in the June next year. Employers of big companies with more than 100 people working in it must update themselves with the new rules. A medical certificate will be accepted as a proof which is to be provided by the insurance company itself. The medical certificate so provided should be given totally free of cost.
The document supporting the status of your medical insurance should be submitted along with other documents related to your visa. In case you apply for a visa or visa renewal online, you have been provided with an option to upload the medical insurance and make a virtual submission.
There is a change in this aspect too. The option to upload other documents now looks different. You will now find an option asking you to scan your medical certificate instead. It was further declared that employees sponsored by their company need not worry about their health insurance. This is the responsibility of the company in which they work.
Who else is included?
The new rules apply even to visitors who come to Dubai on a holiday or any other purpose. In the case of a visitor, the insurance needs to be brought along with the visa. Officially, the aspect of medical insurance was linked to that of the visas on the 1st of August this year. Surprisingly, GDRFA and the typing centres employees in the emirate were unaware of these new rules when the Emirates enquired with them about this.
