The World Government Summit 2016 was held in the UAE last week. The key themes that were mentioned during the period were digital disruption, changes in technology, and the immediate requirement to foster innovation & adaptive systems of education.
Professor Klaus Schwab, founder and chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF), addressed the crowd on the opening day, stressing on the purpose that the role of the government is central in shaping the future students in later generations. He additional said that the challenge lies within the undeniable fact that governments have to integrate all components of the population into the talent pool. To beat the normal ways in which governments function, governments should keep up with the fast changing systems and uphold long-run visions & adaptability of technology in education systems.
Describing the traits of the universities of the future, listed below are factors mentioned:
Firstly, every young student can have an education custom built to their individual needs through AI (Artificial Intelligence), where the teacher would understand precisely what interests the students, and what their capabilities, strengths and weaknesses are.
Secondly, the simplest education within the world for each young student is going to be demonetized (in other words, free). This point is made with an example of how search engines have been provided free of cost and provides free access to information to anyone who seeks it.
Thirdly, lessons are going to be delivered precisely when one must learn them and learning can continue throughout one’s lifetime and not just at a prescribed stage in life.
Fourthly, school sessions are going to be conducted primarily for sports, to increase cooperation & its value in lied and also to enhance the social experiences.
Lastly, education can facilitate young students to realise their dreams and ambitions by pushing them to be curious and to study subjects that actually interest them.
