How to migrate from USA to Australia in 2021?

Australia has increasingly become a popular destination for migration for those staying in the US. Australia is a preferred destination not only for the dynamic business opportunities that it offers but also the peaceful environment and the great outdoor lifestyle that it has to offer.

What is the easiest way to move to the Australia from the US in 2021?

The easiest way is to ensure that you have the desired skills that Australia needs. This is because when Australia looks at welcoming migrants it looks at getting in the right skills which will contribute to the country’s economic growth.

Having the right skill set when applying for migration will be the primary factor for your success in spite of your financial situation and/or your family structure. If your application is successful because you have the right skills you can get a permanent residency which will extend to your spouse or partner and your dependent children.

Australia regularly publishes a list of over 300 occupations where it faces a skill shortage which prospective migrants can check and then apply for a visa.

The Skilled Migration stream is a points-based system and is the most popular immigration program that aspiring migrants choose. Here is a brief description of the eligibility requirements for the three main visa categories under the Skilled Migration Program.

Skilled Independent visa (Subclass 189): Before submitting your application under this category, you must give an Expression of Interest through Skill Select. This can be done within or outside of Australia.

The applications are by invitation only, for this you should:

  • Have Experience in a nominated occupation on Australia’s Skilled Occupations List
  • Get a skill assessment report by a designated authority for that occupation
  • Submit an Expression of Interest
  • Be under 45 years
  • Meet general Skilled Migration basic requirements
  • Score at least 65 on the points test
  • Meet health and character requirements

Once you receive an invitation to apply for this visa, you must do so within 60 days.

Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190): You qualify for this visa if you are nominated by an Australian state or territory. The privileges in this visa are the same as the Skilled Independent visa (Subclass 189)

The application requirements are similar except that you should have experience in a nominated occupation on the Skilled Occupations List.

Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Subclass 491 Visa: This visa has replaced the Subclass 489 Visa as a pathway to a PR visa. Under this visa skilled workers and their families must live, work and study in designated regional areas for 5 years. They will be eligible for a PR visa after three years. The eligibility requirements are the same as for other Skilled nomination programs.

Other immigration streams you can consider

Employer Sponsored Migration

The program aims at filling skill shortages in the Australian Labor Market by matching the vacancies to those migrants who have the requisite skills and experience.

Business Innovation and Investment Program

The Australian business visa program helps foreign business owners, senior executives and investors to come here for business purposes and develop new or existing businesses in Australia. This can also be a pathway to permanent residency.

Distinguished talent visa

The Distinguished Talent visa is designed for individuals who have achieved something exceptional in a profession, in arts or sports or in research or academic fields. The visa has two subclasses- Subclass 858 for onshore and Subclass 124 for offshore.

Under the family stream you can migrate to Australia if your close family member is a citizen or permanent resident in Australia. The family stream gives preference to the spouse/partner, dependent children, parents of citizens and permanent residents in Australia.
