All that you need to know about India E-Visa

India E-Visa

As per the official statistics, more than 25 lakh E-Visas were offered by India in 2018. The Indian Visa regime has been revamped in the last 2 years. It has been made easier to administer and understand.

The E-Visa is permissible just under 5 streams and it has 5 sub-streams:

  • E-Conference Visa
  • E-Medical Attendant Visa
  • E-Medical Visa
  • E-Business Visa
  • E-Tourist Visa

The Government of India has not made any provision of emergency fee or extra fee. This is for offering any Express/Emergency E-Visa, as quoted by the Times Now News. Only those overseas travellers are offered the India E-Visa whose only purpose of arriving at India is for:

  • Attending a workshop/seminar/ conference/ organized by a Department or Ministry of the Government of India, UT Administrations or State Governments, etc
  • As an attendant to the e-Medical Visa holder
  • Business purpose
  • Medical treatment including treatment under Indian systems of medicine
  • Attending a short term yoga program
  • A casual visit to visit friends and relatives
  • Sightseeing
  • Recreation

Below is the list of documents required for various categories of India E-Visa:

E-Tourist Visa:

  • Passport’s scanned Bio page with the Photo and details

E-Medical Visa:

  • Passport’s scanned Bio page with the Photo and details
  • Copy of Letter from the concerned hospital in India on letterhead inclusive of tentative date/date on which admission has been advised

E-Medical Attendant Visa:

  • Passport’s scanned Bio page with the Photo and details

E-Business Visa:

  • Passport’s scanned Bio page with the Photo and details
  • Business Card copy
  • If applicable, an invitation letter from the parties in India that want you to conduct business

E-Business Visa “For delivering lecture/s through GIAN – Global Initiative for Academic Networks”

  • Passport’s scanned Bio page with the Photo and details
  • Host institute’s invitation to the overseas faculty
  • Sanction order copy under GIAN offered by IIT Kharagpur – National Coordinating Institute
  • Synopsis copy of the courses that will be undertaken by the faculty

E-Conference Visa:

  • Passport’s scanned Bio page with the Photo and details
  • Organizer’s invitation that the applicant can obtain from the organizer
  • External Affairs Ministry’s political clearance
  • Home Affairs Ministry’s event clearance

The digital photo that has to be uploaded with the application for India E-Visa must fulfil the following requirements:

  • Size – Maximum 1 MB Minimum 10 KB
  • Format – JPEG
