It is perilous to lie or send false documentation and information to Immigration, Refugees, Citizenship Canada (IRCC). This crime is called “misrepresentation” and is fraudulent.

- Passports and travel documents

You are not supposed to submit false information or documents, as your application will be rejected and may also:
- Restricts you from going to Canada for five years
- Remarks a fraudulent record permanently
- Blocks your status as a permanent resident or Canadian citizen
- Charges you for the crime, and
- Removes you from Canada

Working with partners to eliminate document fraud and enlighten the officers to spread awareness globally. The partners of the IRCC include:
- The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA)
- The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and
- Foreign police services and
- Offices that issue identity and status documents
The CBSA and the RCMP partners support to phase in the biometrics. The usage of data is used to identify a person through their fingerprints.
