Malaysia Passport

A Malaysian passport holder can visit 151 countries with a visa. It makes Malaysian passport the eighth most powerful passport globally in the Passport Index 2016.

The ranking by the World Economic Forum (WEF) sees Malaysia being tied with countries such as Australia, Iceland and Malta.

Passports were ranked by the index depending on the countries that one can visit without needing a visa, says the Star Online.

Other ASEAN countries with powerful passports are Brunei, Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia, which rank at 20, 55, 63 and 62, respectively.

Passports of both Vietnam and Cambodia rank at 74 with visa-free access to 51 countries.

The most powerful countries in this index are Germany and Sweden, from which passport holders can visit 158 nations without a visa.

In 2015, the US and the UK, which shared the top spot, have fallen to fourth and second place, respectively.

Singapore is also ranked at the fourth place, as its passport holders can travel without a visa to 155 countries.

The least powerful passports belong to countries in conflict areas such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Syria and Somalia, whose passport holders can travel only to 24 countries with a visa.
