The Indian High Commission in Dhaka has announced the opening of a new Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) facility point in Dhaka for receiving and delivering of visa applications with effect from January 1, 2015, said a press note.

State Bank of India (SBI) has been made the authorised agent of the High Commission of India for receiving and delivering of visa applications from the new IVAC location in Dhanmondi, according to the visa advisory note.

However, the press note did not mention anything about whether the current visa application system would remain. While contacted, official concerned told the Dhaka Tribune that they were yet to receive any information from the authorities in this regard.

All IVACs receive all categories of visa applications. The following IVAC facilities are now available in Gulshan, Motijheel, Dhanmondi (New), Chittagong, Sylhet, Khulna and Rajshahi.

The press release read: “While submitting visa applications, applicants are advised to select the correct category of visa they wish to apply for. They should ensure that all documentation is genuine, complete and accurate.”

“Applicants are advised to be vigilant about agents and middlemen and to report all such cases to the nearest Police State/Law Enforcement Authority. The IVAC does not have nor has authorized any person/organisation to act on its behalf in Bangladesh.”

With effect from January 1 next year, the revised visa processing fee will be as follows: For all IVAC Centres in Dhaka, Chittagong and Rajshahi- Tk600 and IVAC centres in Sylhet and Khulna-Tk700.

For uploading photographs, the applicants will be required to scan and upload their photograph in the designated space provided in the online application form. Application forms received without the scanned photograph would be considered incomplete.

A special counter for Medical Emergency Visas is available at IVAC, Gulshan. Medical emergency visa applications may be deposited on a walk-in basis at IVAC Gulshan, Dhaka even without an appointment date.
