The deadline to apply for a CSQ- Quebec Selection Certificate for those candidates who receive an ITA from Quebec Skilled Worker Program has now been reduced to 60 days. This was announced by the Government of Quebec Province on 26th June.

The latest deadline decreases 30 days from the earlier 90 days deadline. The Federal Government had introduced a similar decrease exactly 1 year back to the Express Entry system. The decreased deadline for application was among the 3 measures announced by the Government of Quebec province.

It has also announced by the Government that current EOIs – Expressions of Interest will have an extra validity of 6 months. This is in the pool of candidates of the Quebec Skilled Worker Program, as quoted by the CIC News.

The third initiative is pertaining to the EOIs of candidates who reject an ITA for a CSQ. Their EOIs will remain in the pool of candidates for the entire period of validity.

The Government of the province said that all the 3 initiatives have become effective immediately from 26th June 2019.

The CSQ is a document offered by the MIDI – Immigration, Diversity, and Inclusion Ministry. It declares that the holder has been chosen to settle in the Quebec province. The recipient of CSQ can file an application for Canada PR Visa with the Immigration authorities of the Federal Government.

The immigrants are chosen by Quebec as per its specific criteria. However, it cannot offer the Canada PR Visa to the applicants. Thus, CSQ is not a PR Visa and also cannot be used to arriving in Canada.

Aspiring overseas immigrants to Quebec can apply for a CSQ through any one of the below programs:

  • Quebec Experience Class
  • Quebec Investor Program
  • Quebec Entrepreneur Program
  • Quebec Self-Employed Person Program
  • Quebec Skilled Worker Program

Each of the above programs has its own criteria for eligibility that must be fulfilled by the prospective applicants for receiving CSQ. These are based on diverse factors of the applicants. It can include their:

  • Financial assets
  • Experience in Quebec
  • Family information
  • Language knowledge
  • Education history
