Students aspiring to study in the United Kingdom (UK) got tips in a seminar organized by the British Council on Thursday.
The students were shown a video presentation featuring some Indian students studying in the UK who claimed the universities there provided global opportunities and multicultural environment with no language barrier. “I wanted to know about the scholarships available for studying law in the UK. I have also done some research about courses in a few other countries,” said Rahul Kumar, a class XI student of a city school.
Many parents also accompanied their wards and the seminar was a full house and many youngsters were even standing for over an hour to know more about foreign studies. School students, collegians and even graduates attended the seminar to find out more about higher education in the UK. “We were told the master’s programme is only of one year in many UK colleges. It might save a year’s time if I pursue English literature in the UK than in India,” said Harsha Singh, who is pursuing English (Hons) from IGNOU.
The students and parents also asked several questions related to foreign studies, scholarships, accommodation and part time jobs, etc. To make the session interesting, a general knowledge quiz was also organized and the winners were given caps as prizes. The students, who wish to study in the UK, can get more details from www.britishcouncil.org or the local office of the British Council.
