TotalMobile to generate 100 jobs in US

A BELFAST software company that plans to create 100 new jobs in the US as part of a major expansion project has promised the investment will also “create jobs back home”.

TotalMobile intends to expand its current modest operations in Westborough, Massachusetts – which employs about 15 people – in its first significant expansion outside Ireland.

The company, which is a subsidiary of Northern Ireland headquartered Consilium Technologies, said its US investment decision was taken because it had seen growing demand for its software products particularly from state and municipal government customers in the US.

The Belfast company develops software for government organisations and various industries that allows their field workers to capture information in real time and relay information to back-office systems.

According to TotalMobile this helps reduce costs from travel and time spent on processing paperwork.

Colin Reid, chief executive of TotalMobile and Consilium Technologies, said he believes the opportunity for the Belfast company in North America is “huge”.

As part of its expansion TotalMobile intends to create jobs in business development, technology solutions support and technology management in Massachusetts.

Mr Reid said the firm’s decision to locate its latest investment project in the US was “good news for Northern Ireland’s economy too”.

“The expansion will help create jobs back home. We recently ran a recruitment campaign to employ new local graduates and the expansion will allow us to continue this in the future. We are actively seeking new business opportunities in the public and private sector within the UK,” Mr Reid said.

“A testament to our commitment to Northern Ireland employment is our upcoming move to new, larger premises in Claredon Dock, Belfast. We hope these modern new offices will be home to plenty of new recruits over next couple of years.”

TotalMobile’s growing US team will be supported by staff based in its Belfast headquarters and all of the development of the software and helpdesk support will also be located in Northern Ireland.
