UK Tough Immigration

UK ImmigrationFrom August 3rd this year, the rules relating to the work permit of students in the UK have undergone a change, with the result that they have now become tougher than they used to be. The students willing to work while studying have only three options now. They either have to work for 20 hours, 10 hours or stay without any work at all.

What do the new rules say?

The new rules also specify that those who intend to extend their stay in the United Kingdom, will not enjoy any working rights thereafter. It is made necessary for employers to be extremely careful while employing students, to make sure that no laws are being violated. Along with this, there are other things that an employer must keep in mind while employing international students.

Firstly a person willing to employ an international student, must have with him or her, a copy of the student’s course duration and vacation period as they must take care not to make them work beyond the permitted period of time. The visa expiry dates must also be kept in mind by maintaining all the information in a migrants file.

Things to remember

It is also important to keep track of the division of working hours within a week. A student permitted to work for 20 hours in a week, must divided it accordingly. Working 15 hours in one week and 25 hours in another is not acceptable. Every employer having students to work for him or her must have additional staff to monitor the number of hours these students are spending at work.

In a situation where an employer fails to comply with the above mentioned rules, he or she will have to face multiple consequences. These include a damage to the reputation of the employer and his company, a fine of 20,000 pounds for every illegal worker employed, a legal prosecution if necessary and action against the license of the sponsors.

The Tire 4 sponsors have the right to report any student working beyond the permitted limits at any given point of time. Such reports should go to UKVI where action will be taken accordingly.
