Recently, VETASSESS has announced that it would be “changing some of our fees for skills assessment services for General Professional Occupations.”
Authorised by the Australian government, VETASSESS is Australia’s largest skills assessment provider. VETASSESS evaluates the qualifications as well as work experience of prospective migrants.
The assessment of 32 trade occupations along with over 350 professional occupations from diverse industries is undertaken by VETASSESS.
Key service areas of VETASSESS include independent assessment, recognition of prior learning and skills assessment for the purposes of migrate overseas to Australia.
There are 42 different skills assessing authorities recognized by the Australian government.
A skills assessing authority is an organization that checks whether the skills that the individual possesses are up to the standards required for working in a relevant occupation. |
Generally, an occupation will have its own skills assessing authority.
Australia’ Department of Home Affairs [DHA] will only accept a skills assessment if issued by the relevant assessing authority.
The individual will be responsible for getting their skills assessment, if required.
While obtaining a suitable skills assessment is mandatory for certain Australian visas, an assessment might be requested for other visa subclasses.
Which Australian visas require a skills assessment?
A skills assessment might be required if applying for any of the following Australian visas: |
General Skilled Migration [GSM] visas
Note. For doctors, evidence of their full registration will be considered a suitable skills assessment. For solicitors, evidence of admission to practice as a lawyer in the relevant Sate/Territory will be a suitable skills assessment. |
