British Virgin Islands

People possessing a UK, US or Canadian visa can enter the British Virgin Islands (BVI), from 1 September following its cabinet’s approval.

It will mean that citizens of countries having a current and valid visa granted by any of these three countries can visit the British Virgin Islands.

This effort is said to be a part of that country’s labour and immigration reform to smoothen further entry and encourage its economic growth for the territory.

Dr. Orlando Smith, the British Virgin Islands Premier and Minister of Finance, was quoted by Carribean360.com as saying that their government is of the view that by implementing this visa waiver programme, their territory’s tourism and financial services sectors would benefit.

According to him, because of developments of late in trade, tourism, and financial services in that area and Britain’s exit from the EU, their territory needed to waive some visa restrictions in order to foster economic growth in the British Virgin Islands.
