New Zealand Immigration

As per the population living in New Zealand and especially in its capital of Auckland, there is a shortage for skilled workers in the industry of construction. The housing shortage is because of natural population growth along with legal immigrants. The direct affect has been on the social and economic institution in New Zealand. Auckland has seen its median house price rocket to NZ$ 765,000 (or around US$ 500,000). New Zealand needs construction workers desperately.

The Reserve Banks and New Zealand Government have made stepped in and made changes impacting investment in real estate as well as permanent residence inhabitants which has mildly cooled down the market for the time being.

The Local and National Government already owns NZ$ 200 billion of infrastructure assets, which by 2025 will reach an estimated expenditure of NZ$ 110 billion. Christchurch is also showing shortages in the number of skilled construction workers for the ongoing rebuilding of the city, post the 2011 earthquake.

The Economist had ranked Auckland as the ninth most livable city in the world. Hence in 2016, it is anticipated that 2016 will need skilled trade and construction professionals.
