U.S offers scholarships for students willing to study abroad

Going abroad to study can be a great financial burden in itself. Understanding this truth, the government of the United States of America has decided to offer scholarships to all those who wish to study in the universities of that country. The government has increased the number of scholarships being offered.

For those who wish to study in France or Rome, there is a scholarship launched in the year 2006. It is called the Critical Language Scholarship Program has been launched to promote learning of languages that are crucial to the country’s relation with other countries. The factor that separates this scholarship from others, is the fact that it is only for summer languages.

The program has also undergone some more changes in terms the number of languages offered. It was initially offered in 6 languages in the year 2006, but now the number has increased to 13. These include Azerbaijani, Bangla/Bengali, Hindi, Indonesian, Korean, Punjabi, Turkish, and Urdu for the beginners, Arabic and Persian for learners at the level of Advanced beginning, intermediate and advanced levels and Chinese, Japanese, and Russian for Intermediate and advanced levels.

It is open to students at  undergraduate, master’s and doctoral-level. Those who are still in their high school and aim to get into this program, must take a look at the  National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) program for more information. Next in the list is the Fulbright Program which aims to create a good understanding between Americans and people who come from other countries. Along with being popular, it is also competitive.

The other choices you have

The next category of scholarships is the Boren Scholarships. These are for those people who wish to study in countries that are least represented as study abroad destinations. The list of such countries includes Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. There is another program that does not require you to study of other languages that are crucial to American culture. It is called The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program.
