UNSW to target Indian Researchers earmarks whopping 5,200 Crores

Students in India aspiring to Study in Australia can cheer now. University of New South Wales – UNSW is targeting Indian Researchers. It has earmarked whopping 5,200 Crores for this ambitious plan. This aims to engage in research and hire mid and early researchers from key economies that include India.

UNSW has identified 3 focus areas for research collaborations and overseas outreach. These include academic research, industry engagements and social engagements, as quoted by the Live Mint.

UNSW in Sydney is among the top 50 Global Universities. It has said that India is one of its crucial destinations for the recruitment of overseas students. India is also important for collaborations in research in diverse areas, said UNSW. These include from smart cities and archaeological conservations to solar energy and public health.

Country Director at UNSW India Amit Dasgupta said that India is a crucial partner for the vision and research collaboration of UNSW. We have prepared a strategy for India to attract more researchers and students he added.

University of New South Wales has 1,200 Indian students as of now. It targets to increase the numbers to 4,500 in the next 2 years.

Pro-vice Chancellor UNSW – Overseas Laurie Pearcey said that we aim to attract around 1,000 mid to early career researchers. This is to boot our academic excellence over the next 10 years from key markets, added Pearcey.

We have a strategy for all 3 pillars said the Pro-vice Chancellor. India is a very crucial and evident partner for the UNSW to focus, explained Pearcey.

Dasgupta said that the number of Indian students who obtained admission in UNSW is really encouraging. It is nearly 75% exceeding our target, he added.
